Day 54 2013 - Feelings

So....

I've just spent another weekend in my PJs, watching Romantic Comedies and feeling a little bit down. I feel like today has been a lesson at school in which I'm being educated about the mysteries of love and its many forms. No two love stories are the same but they still have that strong, powerful feeling. The same powerful and confusing feeling that I really miss and day-dream about.
-sigh- I don't want to grovel over the abscence of love in my life but its getting me pretty down, and I'm really not sure why to be honest. I've always wanted to pride myself over being independent but theres only so many times you can have that mind set.

You wouldn't imagine how many RomComs I've watched lately. Its tiring feeling like this!

Anyways..

A good week should be coming up. Carrying on working on my Final Major Project at UCA so it'll give me the chance to get lost in something :)

Life is great :) its just not complete.

Day 53 2013 The Gap in my life

Hey! So I know its been exactly a week since I posted on here last, but I feel that I have a lot more to talk about .

Its been a more relaxed week I would say :) But theres still this feeling of some thing missing within me. I miss having a relationship, feeling loved and someone worrying and looking after me. I keep watching Romantic Comedy films and it makes me more aware of the part that's missing. It would make more sense to avoid that type of movie completely for a while... but the trouble is, I'm addicted. I'm addicted and obessessed with the love stories, and the heart-aching feelings that they endure, but also  the 'happily ever after' part which the main characters end up with as they walk towards the sunset.

Everything in my life is going really great. I'm finally feeling happy. My foundation course at UCA is going really well and I finish in less than 3 months, then I've got my place at Bucks New University for September. Textiles is still my absolute passion and I loved doing my textile internship with zoe, and I really want to do more and more. Most importantly, I have the greatest of friends who, although I don't see them often enough, I know we'll find our ways back to each other especially in the summer. The same with my family, I couldn't get by without them and my teenage moans with my mum and grandparents have disappeared :) I feel so much more matured in myself but theres still a long way to go.

Apart from all the great stuff which is going for me, that missing gap within me is like a small cut. Its only minor but when you focus on it for too long, it can feel like the most agonizing thing in the world. I'm not sure what to do with this feeling. One part of me wants a relationship and experience those amazing and at times cruel feelings; to have someone who loves me completely. However the other part tells me that its too early and right now I need to feel a little lost inorder to be found again later on.

Right now I'm focusing on my Final Major Project which is the very last part of my foundation course at UCA and I'm very excited about it :) Its the most crucial part as it actually gets graded, so no pressure!

I apologize if this sounds like a depressing post, but its raw feeling that I've had for a while now and it looks like its here to stay. I've wanted to tell someone about it, but its difficult when you're trying to not sound ungrateful for what you have, or sound rather depressed. I guess this is one reason why I like writing on this blog. Instead of bottling it up, I can spill it out to you and maybe even get some advice back.

If you do have any words of wisdom please let me know and share it with me. I could really do with a second opinion and the faith that everything will be okay.

Speak to you all soon

Day 46 2013 - Self Discovery

Hello :)

I know I haven't wrote anything on here in a while and I know I should really start getting back into the habit of it, but to be perfectly honest, life has started to take over :) And its certainly not a bad thing!

Heres just a quite update on how my week has been!

So..

Monday - I had my university interview at Bucks New University in High Wycombe! The day went really well; the interview was great and all the effort I put into my portfolio paid off :) I also looked around High Wycombe itself, which made me fall in love with the town and the idea of studying there even more.

Tuesday - I was busy getting my garment ready for the fashion show on friday. This meant an early start but ended quite early with the decision to leave uni to go for a meal at pizza hut! It was lovely being able to relax and have a laugh :) So it was a nice perk up for the rest of the busy week ahead. Even more so once I got home as well! As I was checking my emails, I found one email from UCAS. I opened the email. I discovered that Bucks New University have given me a place for September! :)

Wednesday - My last day of my internship with Zoe Murphy! I felt a bit sad but realised how much I learnt during my month of Wednesdays there :) Zoe has been so inspiring, and I even gave her a thank you card; in exchange she wrote in my leavers book. Then it was the long travel back home. :)

Thursday - Another busy day for me to finish off my garment for the fashion show. I felt a little stressed out but also looking forward to the end of the week! :)

Friday - The whole day was focused on preparing my model for the fashion how; which included hair, make-up as well as styling! As it was something I've never done before, I did have to get more model to help me out a couple of times; thank goodness we were friends! :) Despite having to sort out my model for the show, I was also modelling for it which meant lots of faffing and rushing around. However I found it a lot of fun which was great! :)

                                                    My Styled Model and Garment!

With the university interview and fashion show now out of the way, I just need to focus on getting all of my previous project work sorted for my assessment week appointment on Tuesday :)

After Tuesday, my focus will also be on my Final Major Project for uni! The Final Major Project is the most crucial part of the course as its what you actually get graded on, so I really need to give it my all!

Today :)

So after having a very busy week, I decided to spend my whole day in my PJs and watch Romantic Comedy films :) Instead of making me feel depressed and lonely, its made me feel optimistic and open to opportunity with love. Without love, life can seem very dull and lonely and is something we all need.

I've decided to stick with my Single Girl's To-Do list, and make it more official :) Always open to any opportunities which come with each activity on the list :)

Hello People!

Update

The interview at Bucks New University went really well! I'm really glad I've got to do one interview and feel pretty confident that I've got a place :) Textiles and Surface Design here I come!

I'm expecting a definite answer by the end of the this week or the start of next week, but I'll definitely keep you all informed :)

Day 40 2013 - I've been really busy..

Hey guys..

I'm really sorry for not doing any blogs for the whole week! However it means that I have a lot more to tell you all :) Its great that people have still been reading the blog; hope you find it useful and entertaining!

My Week

University Portfolio

Been an extremely busy week for me! I have my university interview at Bucks New University tomorrow so I've been staying up early hours of the morning throughout the week to get my portfolio done for the interview.

As I currently write, I've got 4 boards left to do which is great! I also need to sort out the sketchbooks I'm taking but other than that, everything is good :)

Current Project

Its my last week to finish off everything for 'Vibrant Vintage' ... no pressure!

I still haven't really started my sketchbook so I need to get on top of that as soon as possible. I'm so busy with everything! I need sleep badly :/

To finish off the project, we're running a fashion show to display everyones work which I'm super excited about :) I've volunteered myself to be one of the catwalk models; something I've never done before so it should be interesting experience!

Assessment Week Coming up!

As well as finishing this current project, I also need to sort out of the boards and work that I've done so far for assessment week... -sighs- Its a lot of work to get done during the day so I'll have to carry on staying up late to get it all done - yay me!

Thinking about the Final Major Project

I've come to the crucial part of the course where I actually get graded... so even more work piled on my plate at the moment.. But I've been really excited about getting to this part so wooo! :)

Despite all the work, I have been able to squeeze in seeing friends and...

Theres A Guy (s)

:)

Anyways.... I'll tell you all about how the interview goes tomorrow, so look out for that!

Day 34 2013 - Career Advisor/ Helping a Friend

Today I met up with my friend Aidan, who I've been close friends with since we were both 4 years of age! So it was really nice catching up with him on the beach and around our local town.

We decided to hang out in the local Costa Cafe and catch-up properly.

Although everthing was great with me, Aidan seemed a bit all over the place with deciding on what he actually wanted to do with his life career-wise. So I helped, naturally!

After helping him plan out a couple of career choices for him, including on what qualifications he needed to do the courses for each choice, I felt really awesome! I've helped him find his career pathway and, potentially his life pathway!

Day 33 2013 - Starting my Single Girl's To-do List

Hi There :)

I've had a great day with my mum, who I care about loads! Went shopping and ate loads of food - Woo!

Came home and chilled out for the evening. Started to get slightly bored and then BAM! this happened -

I sort of like it.....

Anyways!

My Single Girl's To-Do List

So. I like doing things in a specific order, especially when it comes to a list! -How very OCD!-

First one and Second one

Spend more times with friends and family :) Aww.

I have an idea!

Due to the fact I'll be going to Bucks New University in High Wycombe in September, It would be a great idea to spend as much time as possible with people before I go. Things are going to get even tougher in the way of textile work and meeting my friends down here will become even harder, so its best to make as many memories as possible!

I hope to spend and make some sort of memory with everyone on my facebook friend list!

Wish me Luck!

Sophia

Day 32 2013 - Making a To-do list

Today

A highly successful day today with both my university portfolio and my new UCA project, 'Vibrant Vintage'! :) I seem to be on a roll with it and things are definitely looking brighter :)

I'm in such a better mood about university! :D :)

However... I keep having these feelings of emptyness. Its like something is missing and it makes me feel a little bit sad. I'm not sure if its due to not being in a relationship, but it definitely needs to be removed from my life.

Inspiration

Hopefully you'll remember about a book that I told you about, not too long ago! Its called 'The Single Girl's to-do List' and has really inspired me to not just enter into a relationship for the sake of not being loney.

I have constructed a to-do list which has 42 things to do whilst I'm still single. I found all of the things to do on the internet! I probably won't complete all 42 things to do before the end of the year, but I'm going to try!

Theres nothing like committing yourself to something which could potentially change your life forever! I feel that doing this to-do list will be really helpful in the idea of having fun, being young, and finding even more about myself :)

Lets Begin

The To-Do List

1. Spend time with friends. Many couples lament the fact that they don’t have time to spend with their friends once they are part of a couple, so take advantage of this while you are single.

 2. Spend more time with family. Again, being part of a couple can mean choosing to spend less time with your family, so enjoy them selfishly until, then.

 3. Travel. Visit exotic destinations and enjoy being free and single. Consider singles cruises or other package holidays for single people, and use it as an excuse to make new friends.

 4. Take up a new hobby. Instead of moping over being single, fill your time by learning to do something new and fun, such as surfing or knitting.

 5. Do more charity work. Devote yourself to helping others, and it will help you appreciate your life a lot more.

 6. Learn to appreciate yourself. If you think highly of yourself, so will others, including any potential suitors.

 7. Conquer a fear. Building confidence is important for many reasons, especially attracting a partner. Learn to skydive or climb a mountain, and you will love how it feels to be brave!

 8. Join a gym. Working on your health is always beneficial, and it will make you feel great.

 9. Start a book club, or join one. Take time to enjoy books and share them with others.

10. Keep a journal. If writing a story is not for you, keep a journal of your experiences and emotions. You can gain a lot of insight into yourself by looking back through it at different points in your life.

 11. Plant a garden. Grow fresh fruits and vegetables and share them with your friends and family. Or give extra produce to a food bank, and feel good for helping.

 12. Get a job or change your career. Find your calling and do it, whether it means getting a degree and a better job, or taking on a less stressful one.

 13. Take a cooking class. This can make you self sufficient in the kitchen, and a real catch, too!

 14. Become a Big Brother or Big Sister. Spend your time mentoring at risk youth and make a difference in the world.

 15. Create something new. Whether you invent something or paint a picture, the act of creation is very fulfilling and enjoyable.

 16. Catch up on your sleep. Get enough sleep to feel refreshed and ready for life’s challenges.

 17. Go to church. If you don’t have one, try a few out to see if they meet your spiritual needs.

 18. Learn about other religions. Educating yourself about the beliefs of others can make you very open minded.

 19. Grab another single friend and go for drinks or a coffee.

 20. Invite all of your single friends out for a night on the town. Remember to drink responsibly and have a designated driver!

 21. Have a singles only movie night at home. Pop some popcorn and put on a marathon of Bridget Jones movies, or anything that makes you laugh.

  22. Bake some goodies and give them to friends and coworkers. Doing something nice for others will always make you smile.

 23. Go to the movies for a matinĂ©e. Take a friend, or go alone, and enjoy!

 24. Plan a dream vacation, then go there! You don’t have to be part of a couple to enjoy paradise.

 25. Cook a meal for your single friends and have a dinner party.

 26. Organize a party for yourself or someone you know. Enjoy the planning process, and the result!

 27. Go to a wine and cheese tasting event. Spoil yourself by buying a bottle of whatever you liked best, then impress your friends with your new found knowledge!

 28. Take dance lessons. No partner needed, since you will likely be paired with someone at the same skill level.

 29. Visit a museum and take the time to truly appreciate what you see.

 30. Grab a friend and go for a long drive in the countryside. Just go wherever the road takes you!

 31. Have a singles picnic. Everyone can bring a dish, and do some match making!

 32. Offer to babysit for a couple with children so that they can have a night out. They will appreciate you for it!

 33. Buy something nice for yourself.

 34. Spend time with a couple. Really watching how others relate can make you appreciate being single!

 35. Put some adventure in your life! Visit the pyramids, dive with sharks, do something daring!

 36. Learn self defense, especially if you are a single woman. Don’t rely on someone else to protect you in times of danger.

 37. Move to a new city. If this is too drastic, try visiting one for a week or two. Challenge yourself with a change of scenery.

 38. Learn to enjoy your own company. You will really appreciate learning about yourself when you find yourself identified as part of a couple later on.

 39. Get a pet! Save a life and rescue a dog or cat from a shelter. It will change both your lives!

 40. Buy yourself flowers and chocolates.

  41. Challenge yourself to try something new every day.

 42. Love yourself more, other people will like you better if you like yourself first.

So there we go!

It would be great to do this list in order at first and then seeing where it takes me :)

I hope this inspires you to make a list <3
